Reduce code by implementing five refactoring opportunities

Identify top 5 opportunities to massively reduce the amount of code (lines of code) in any part of the repo: - Similar functionality that can be unified and reused - Code that has been valuable but no more - A front end component or a group of them duplicate another component/page functionality. Use the most modern and nice looking - etc. Now implement them :)

Lane fix for PR #7085 (five code-reduction units, net −93 lines): the jaah-ce sensitive ratchet counted 4 moved comment strings as internal refs; reworded as prose, no baseline raised. Rebased on develop; quick gate, ratchet and CE/mirror suites green; head 5e42574a1 queued on the merge lane. Lane's gitleaks line not reproducible locally (clean), named in PR body.
